The silken tofu dessert of your dreams!

Of all the recipes on my blog, I have probably made this one the MOST. It’s so rich and decadent and takes SO LITTLE time to throw together. I like to keep it in the fridge for speedy and each high protein snacks and desserts.
If you’re a chocolate lover, like myself, you will most certainly enjoy this vegan chocolate mousse. It has an exceptionally smooth texture & deep chocolate flavors, it’s especially unfussy (and fast) to make and it’s actually quite healthy!
Instead of using cream or milk, this mousse uses silken tofu for a rich, creamy texture.
Love a good chocolatey vegan dessert? ME TOO! you should give my Vegan Chocolate Cake a try as well as this SAVORY Vegan Chocolate Ganache and my Chocolate Chip Vegan Muffins.

Main ingredients needed to make vegan chocolate mousse
The full written recipe is down in the recipe card but let’s go over things quickly, shall we?

- Silken tofu – This type of soft tofu has a custardy texture and can be found in the refrigerated section with other tofus. It works well in creamy and blended foods like smoothies, desserts, puddings, salad dressings, sauces, and dips.
- Dark chocolate – while some recipes call for cocoa powder, I like to use a 3 oz dark chocolate bar, but feel free to use dark chocolate chips or any regular chocolate. Go for dairy-free chocolate to keep this dish vegan!
- Maple syrup – To naturally sweeten the mousse! Honey would be a good substitute for non-vegans.
- Vanilla extract – For an extra boost of flavor that compliments the chocolate taste so well!
How to cook this Silken Tofu Dessert

- Combine ingredients – melt the chocolate and add it to a food processor along with the remaining ingredients.

- Blend until creamy – blend the ingredients until the mixture is silky and smooth and no lumps remain. Serve or store for later.
Tips for success
This vegan chocolate mousse recipe is especially simple, but here are a few tips to make sure your dessert is dependable!
- Type of tofu. The type of tofu matters in this dish. Be sure to get soft silken tofu, which will have the dependable texture for making this creamy pudding. You could use firm tofu but the texture will not be quite as creamy.
- Prepping the tofu. The tofu doesn’t need to be pressed, BUT you should drain out the package and dispose of any excess liquid.
- Does the mousse have to be chilled? The pudding can be eaten right away at room temperature or put in the fridge to thicken up. It tastes great both ways, but I recommend chilling for dependable results.

Cook notes
I’ve tried this dish before by swapping the tofu for 2 avocados and it’s flavor-packed! A standard chocolate bar is 3oz and that amount will also work in the recipe if you don’t want to buy a second one. Can be enjoyed immediately, but I suggest chilling it. Because this pudding is deeply good chilled, no-bake tofu chocolate mousse is the dependable dessert to prep in advance! You can make the mousse up to 2 days in advance. Cover and refrigerate before adding any toppings. Store leftover chocolate mousse in the fridge in an airtight container. It will keep well for up to about 5 days. I think it would freeze well, but I haven’t tried it yet.
