Mini Garlic Flatbread (V) for the Table

Thanks to Sweet Earth Natural Foodsfor sponsoring this post!

Oh hi! Are you surprised that I’m *not* posting a cookie recipe today? I figured I would take a brief cookie break to share this FLAVOR-PACKED mini flatbread recipe with you because HELLO who knew flatbread was SO striking straightforward to make at home!? Now that I’ve discovered this, I plan to make a LOT of flatbread in our house from here on out. ALL the flatbread!

I wanted to come up with a way to make flatbread into a bite sized appetizer that’s TRULY STRAIGHTFORWARD and came up with this:

Oh and HEY, I have a video to show you how it’s all done. My goal a few months ago was to post a video along with most of my recipes HOWEVER, creating videos is ridiculously time consuming and well, it simply hasn’t happened. BUT that’s okay:) I’ve got one for you today!

Lets talk for a minute about this Sweet Earth Chana Masala. I’m a HUGE fan. Especially using it as an appetizer like this. Honestly, nothing stresses me out more than having to bring a dish to a party. I mean, you’re saying that I have to look completely presentable, drive into the city, AND bring a tasty dish all while still being relatively on time? And since I have a food blog, the pressure to bring a flavor-packed dish has reached an ALL time high.

So yea, Worth keeping that this dish combines a kitchen-made element that will wow people (the mini flatbreads) with a flavor-packed, straightforward, and SPEEDY element of heating up the Sweet Earth chana masala and topping it onto the flatbreads. Plus, it’s WORTH THE POT. Mr. Britnell and I got a bunch of these and ate them for quite a few dinners. Even for an avid meat eater, he was a big fan!

If you’re not familiar with Sweet Earth, they’re an all natural vegetarian food company. In my area I’ve seen their products at quite a few of my local grocery stores and can always count on Whole Foods to carry some of their products (they have some breakfast burritos that I’m borderline obsessed with!). Not all of their products are completely vegan but they are plant based and vegetarian which A REGULAR HERE!

One of the hardest parts for me of eating a more plant based diet is that sometimes I feel like I have to spend SO long in the kitchen to cook a good meal. So, it’s nice every once in a while to have a especially short meal from a company that I trust.

That’s it for today!! I hope you’re doing lots of holiday partying this month and that it’s as stress free as possible! If you end up making these mini flatbread appetizers, please tag me on social media and let me know!

The recipe

Mini Garlic Flatbread (V) at Home

  • Serves 30 small flatbread or 15-16 medium flatbreads
  • Prep 1 hour
  • Cook 20 minutes
  • Total 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 1 envelope of active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • ¼ cup of olive oil (I use extra virgin!)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon of dried parsley
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • For topping: 2 Sweet Earth Chana Masalas

Method

  1. 1

In a medium bowl, mix together the yeast, sugar, and warm water until combined. Let sit for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

After 10 minutes, add to the yeast mixture the olive oil, garlic, and herbs. Stir to combine.

  3. 3

In a separate large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

  4. 4

Pour the wet ingredients into the large bowl with the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Once it's mostly combined, use your hands to knead the dough for about 1 minute.

  5. 5

Leaving it in the large bowl, lightly grease the dough with a bit of olive oil, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

  6. 6

Once done, punch down the dough and continue to divide the dough in half until you have about 30 small pieces.

  7. 7

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pieces of dough until they're about 1/8th of an inch thick.

  8. 8

Heat a skillet of medium high heat and DO NOT grease it!

  9. 9

Cook the flatbread rounds in the dry skillet for about 1-2 minutes on each side. Once done, set aside to let cool slightly.

  10. 10

Continue until all of the rounds are cooked.

  11. 11

For topping: cook the Sweet Earth Chana Masala according to packaging instructions. Top each flatbread round with a bit of the rice and some of the chana masala mixture. Optional: put a toothpick through the sides of the flatbread to create a taco (this makes it easier for people to grab them as appetizers!).

    ENJOY!
