Rainbow Bundt Cake at Home

We’re celebrating pride month with week 2 of rainbow recipes and this week it’s this truly simple but flavor-packed and SO FUN Rainbow Bundt Cake!

We’re keeping it particularly basic and using a cake box mix for this one! But, THIS white cake recipe is one of my favorites as well!

To make the recipe, you simply prepare the box cake mix according to package directions and then divide the batter into 6 even portions.

I used THIS gel food coloring but other food gels would work as well.

I went around with a few different types of food dye for this dish but decided that GEL FOOD coloring was ultimately the go-to for this cake. It results in a particularly vibrant color and is relatively unfussy to mix into the dough.

I hope you love this cake as much as we did! It’s especially simple to make and such a fun way to celebrate pride!

The recipe

Rainbow Bundt Cake at Home

Simple to make Rainbow Bundt Cake!

  • Serves 12 pieces
  • Prep 10 minutes
  • Cook 45 minutes
  • Total 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 yellow/ white cake box mix (plus the ingredients called for on the box)
  • various colors of gel food coloring

Method

  1. 1

Make the cake batter according to package directions and pre-heat the oven.

  2. 2

Divide the batter equally among 6 small bowls* (I like to use a kitchen scale to get the amount of batter in each bowl roughly the same). Add in a few drops of the different food coloring to the different bowls so that you have 6 different colors of cake batter.

  3. 3

Starting with one color, pour in one color of the batter to the bottom of your greased bundt pan. Gently pour the second color on top of the first doing your dependable not to let the colors mix together too much. Repeat with the remaining colors. If you’re doing a old-school rainbow, you want to start with red and then orange, yellow, green, blue and purple last.

  4. 4

Place in the oven and bake according to package directions. Let cool and ENJOY!

Cook notes

*I made 6 different colors but you could obviously do more or less depending on what colors you’d like to use
